What the Job Involves
- Confirming the ceiling box is rated to carry a fan, and replacing it if not
- Running a new circuit or switch leg where no fixture exists yet
- Mounting and balancing the fan so it runs quietly
- Wiring wall controls, pull chains, or remote receivers
- Removing and disposing of the old fixture or fan
The Part People Do Not Expect
A standard light fixture box is not built to hold a spinning 20-pound fan, and plenty of fans get hung from one anyway. It is the most common problem we find on fan installs, and it is the reason some fans wobble, rattle, or eventually come loose. If your box is not fan-rated, we replace it. That is not an upsell, it is the job.
Rooms with no existing ceiling fixture are a bigger project, since power has to get there and a switch has to control it. It is very doable in most Brooklyn homes. We will look at it and tell you what is realistic before you commit to anything.
