Electrical Panel & Service Upgrades
Homes ask far more of their electrical systems than they used to. Induction ranges, heat pumps, home offices, and now cars that charge in the driveway. A panel installed decades ago was sized for a very different household. D.A.G. Electric upgrades both panels and electrical service for Brooklyn homes that have outgrown what they have.
The Difference Between the Two:
Panel Upgrade
Replacing the breaker panel itself. This is the right fix when the panel is obsolete, unsafe, or full, but the power coming into the house is still adequate.
Service Upgrade
Increasing the capacity coming into your home, from the utility connection through the meter into a new panel. This is what you need when the house does not have enough power, not just enough breaker spaces.
*Many homes need both, and the two are usually done together. We will tell you which situation you are in.
Signs Your Panel or Service Needs Attention
- Breakers that trip regularly under normal use
- A panel that is completely full, with no room to add a circuit
- Fuses instead of breakers, or a panel from a brand with known safety issues
- Lights that dim noticeably when a large appliance starts
- Reliance on extension cords and power strips because outlets are scarce
- Plans to add an EV charger, central air, or a major appliance
- Rust, scorching, buzzing, or heat at the panel
What to Expect From the Project
This is the largest job we do in a home, and the one where clear communication matters most. We walk you through what your current system can carry, what you are asking it to carry, and what the upgrade changes. You get the full scope and price before anything is disconnected.
There is a planned power interruption while the work is done, and permitting and utility coordination are part of a service upgrade. We schedule around your household and tell you up front roughly how long you will be without power.
