This is the part of electrical work that most rewards experience. Anyone can replace a device. Knowing which of six possible causes is the real one, in a home that has been rewired in pieces over eighty years, is a different skill.
Problems We Track Down
- A breaker that trips repeatedly, or trips as soon as you reset it
- Outlets or entire rooms that have gone dead
- Lights that flicker, dim, or brighten on their own
- A GFCI outlet that will not reset or keeps tripping
- Switches or outlets that feel warm, buzz, or spark
- A burning smell near a fixture, outlet, or panel
*If you smell burning, see smoke, or notice scorch marks, shut off the circuit if you can do so safely and call us right away. Do not keep using it.
How We Approach It
We start by listening. When the problem started, what else was happening in the house, whether anything was added or changed recently. That conversation often narrows things down considerably before we open anything.
From there it is methodical testing rather than guesswork, and we explain what we are finding as we go. When we know the cause, you get the fix and the price before we proceed. If the real answer turns out to be a panel that is out of capacity rather than one bad circuit, you will hear that plainly.
